1:1 Thought Leadership Intensive
You’re an expert at what you do.
You’ve got interesting stories and real experience to share. And you know you have something to say.
But how to get everything across… in a way that gets your ideal audience on board with your work and your vision? That’s an art in itself, and you struggle to master it.
How to explain what makes you unique (without giving a sales pitch)?
Whenever you want to convey who you are and what you stand for, you find yourself defaulting to the sales pitch: a blend of your résumé and your offers. You know the pitch is much more effective if you tell people what you are about first. But explaining what makes you you is no easy feat.
How to ensure your content is unmistakably yours?
Your knowledge and stories are all there... in your head. And that’s the problem: they’re in your head. When you sit down to write a post, you create a draft that feels so generic it could've been written by anyone. Or, worse, you just blank. You want your content to sound and feel like you, but you're unable to tap into your “mental library” when it matters.
How to articulate your views concisely and confidently?
You’re an outspoken individual with clear views. But when someone asks you straight up to share your thoughts on developments in your field, you don’t know what to lead with. So you either try to cover everything (and lose people), or you play it safe (and fail to stand out).
How to attract the right audience and opportunities?
You're showing up on social media and other platforms. You create content in the right formats. You post more and more because you've heard visibility is a numbers game. But for some reason, the people and opportunities you want to attract are staying away.
The only reason why people stick around for the long haul... is you
You keep hearing that you need to share content that highlights your expertise.
That's not untrue, but it's very incomplete advice. Follow it blindly, and you'll build all your content, talks, and interviews around your skills and the solutions you offer. That creates a real problem: you will need to fight to keep people on board every single day.
Don't get me wrong: having the right skills is crucial. If your work is second-to-none, it's a real differentiator. You should absolutely share these USP's (unique selling points). But if they're the only things you talk about, and you leave yourself out of the equation... you're running a sales-focused content mill. (And no one likes those, especially not in the AI era.)
I'm not saying you can't get anywhere with this approach. You definitely can. But you'll have to work really hard to make a customer, client, or audience member stick around. When you solely draw people in with USP's like skills and offers, they won't turn into loyal fans or ambassadors. The minute they see something they deem slightly better or more interesting than your work, you've lost them.
That's because they have no idea who you are. You haven't given them the only reason why people stick around for the long haul: a connection with you.
Building a loyal audience
You want people to connect with you (instead of a solution or project) so they will return for you (instead of constantly comparing you to your competitors).
To build a loyal audience, you need to share your vision, your values, your views, your expertise, and the stories only you can tell. Consistently and compellingly. Across platforms, mediums, and stages.
That's what real thought leaders do.
But... where do you start?
Some people recommend that you "just start." That works, but only after you've laid the right foundation.
Without it, you'll find yourself randomly sharing things, hoping for the best.
That's not a strategy. You might get results eventually, but you'll waste tons of time and energy. Every new post or speech will require you to reinvent the wheel. And you'll often feel that you could've said something a lot better (though you won't be able to pinpoint where it went wrong).
Your career shouldn’t be a hit or miss. Isn't there a better way to become a thought leader?
Accelerate your journey to thought leadership
During the 1:1 Thought Leadership Intensive, we get to the bottom of what makes you you. Depending on the package you choose, we spend one or more sessions equipping you with the tools you need to become a thought leader with a loyal audience.
What's always included in the Intensive is the Thought Leadership Blueprint, a foundational document you can fall back on throughout your journey. I'll create this Blueprint for you after an in-depth Blueprint Interview Session.
What does the Blueprint Interview Session look like?
A Blueprint Interview Session allows us to get to the bottom of your stories, purpose, vision, values, views, and expertise. We don't "make up" some brand story that sounds good. Instead, we uncover what already exists under the surface, and we put it into words.
The Blueprint Interview Session also serves as the “thought leader’s dress rehearsal:” it gives you a real taste of what it’s like to be on a podcast, on a stage, or in a media interview. Sans the pressure. Because with me, you’re in a safe space: I'm the interviewer who's fully in your corner (though I will prepare you for the tough questions if you want me to).
What it means to be interviewed (by me)
During the Blueprint Interview Session, I draw on my background in communications, narrative journalism, podcasting, and anthropology. That means:
- I don’t make assumptions.
During the interview, I regularly summarize what you’ve said. That’s how I make sure you’re not taken in a direction that isn’t yours. You can hear how your words land with another person and nuance them on the spot. If necessary, I help you sharpen your argument and clarify details. - I follow essential “sidetracks.”
What feels like a digression to you might lead us to your main argument or story. Having conducted hundreds of interviews, I have an eye for where interesting material lives. So when I notice those threads, I follow them. - I do a deep-dive into your mind and world.
We don't stay in “skills-and-offers mode.” Of course, we spend time discussing your strengths and your work. But we’re going to connect these elements to your purpose, vision, values, and unique stories. When I notice that we aren't getting to the essence of you, I help you find and articulate it.
Feel uncomfortable talking about yourself?
No worries. Most people do.
I’ve interviewed introverts who came in thinking they’d be done in 10 minutes. Usually, we hit “story gold” within an hour or less, and they turned into extroverts on the spot.
How is that possible? Am I a magician? Absolutely not. But I know this: every person has a unique repository of ideas and stories. With undivided attention, knowledge of human nature, and the right questions, you can uncover that repository. And that gets the most introverted people excited, because they finally realize that they, too, have a distinct voice and a story to tell.
What happens after the Blueprint Interview Session?
Receive your Thought Leadership Blueprint
Getting to the heart of your purpose, vision, values, views, knowledge, and stories during a conversation is useful. But how are you supposed to memorize everything we’ve discussed?
Well, you don’t have to. After our interview, I’ll create your Thought Leadership Blueprint: a document that contains the most essential things you've said (preserving your words), organized into sections. I will also include 3 to 5 core angles you can use to create content, prepare keynote speeches, or give interviews. Each angle is rooted in a perspective you hold or a story that’s distinctly yours.
I’m not going to change or rephrase what you said. I will carefully select the most important elements of our conversation and organize them in one powerful source document. That's the Blueprint you can draw from throughout your journey to thought leadership.
Get your social clips & schedule follow-up sessions [optional]
Depending on the package you choose, you'll also receive a set of professionally edited short clips you can post on social media. And we can schedule one or more follow-up sessions to work on the next steps in your thought leadership journey. Have a look at the options below to see which one fits your needs.
How to use the Thought Leadership Blueprint?
Have you ever noticed that the most successful thought leaders basically share the same stories and views in many different ways, shapes, and forms?
They don't come up with completely new stories and angles all the time. They constantly repackage a small set of original core ideas.
Their secret (and I know because I've worked with lots of them): they document their stories and views to create a "single source of truth" for themselves, which they can draw on over and over again.
That's what the Thought Leadership Blueprint can be for you. It's a powerful source document that houses all the stories, experiences, and perspectives you need to position yourself as a thought leader. It's the most valuable strategic document a thought leader can have, as it saves you tons of time and days of brain racking: whenever you need to create or prepare something around your personal brand, this is your go-to source.
I'll create the Thought Leadership Blueprint for you once. You can use it for years to come.

How does the 1:1 Thought Leadership Intensive work?
Who you'll work with
Hi, I'm Annalisa Koukouves. I love what I do, and I do a lot. You might have come across my work through The Storyteller's Platform (my podcast, magazine, and educational hub for purpose-driven people and organizations). Or, through Thrive Global, Pipeline Artists, and Script Magazine (where my work has been published).
One thread that runs through all my endeavors is my 1:1 work with experts who have something profound to share with the world.
Helping clients build thought leadership is my forte. I’ve worked with 200+ organizations and hundreds of individual thought leaders on storytelling, positioning, and communications strategies. With my help, CEOs, experts, entrepreneurs, and artists have set up highly successful newsletters, given memorable talks, and built loyal audiences that have stuck with them throughout the years.
After 16+ years, I've learned that my Blueprint Interview Session helps accelerate my clients' thought leadership journeys fast. It's a method I've developed and fine-tuned after conducting hundreds of interviews (in the context of written articles, documentaries, podcasts, communications strategies, and storytelling projects).
I have an instinct for identifying the elements that make an individual unique, and I bring it to every 1:1 Thought Leadership Intensive.
My background in anthropology (which I majored in years ago) has proven to be very helpful in my client work. Anthropology trains you to listen carefully, notice what people don't say, and spot the strengths and uniqueness they fail to see in themselves. I pinpoint what sets you apart from everyone else, including the parts you've long taken for granted. And I can help you figure out what will most likely resonate with your audience.
People often tell me our 1:1 sessions have helped them put their vision into words and uncover stories they didn’t realize would help them connect with others. That's one of the main goals of the 1:1 Thought Leadership Intensive.
“Annalisa asks the right questions. You can tell when people have a lot of experience in a particular field. Annalisa radiates a certain level of expertise, which someone can only reach by frequently working on projects like these.”
- Simone van den Nieuwenhuizen
Marketing and communications manager
"Annalisa has the talent to empathize. She can quickly immerse herself in a topic. What I find very powerful is that she can turn the fragmented information we provide into a coherent story. It’s as if you put a dime in the jukebox and it plays us an entire song."
-Â Cornelis Bonnet
Managing director
“Annalisa asked sharp, in-depth questions, which helped us get to the bottom of things. It was more than we had dared to hope for. Besides being honest and thorough, Annalisa is also very warm and accessible.”
- Linda van Zanten
Marketing and communications consultant
“What I find really great is that Annalisa is very quick-witted. She clearly has a lot of experience, which allows us to work very fast. On top of that, Annalisa’s enthusiasm is contagious. She’s open and critical and thinks a few steps ahead. I’m like that, too: I don’t like to hit the brakes when I can accelerate.”
-Â Han Thomassen
